Well guys and girls. Let's get some ideas rolling about the very lovely fairy tail supplement. (And I would like to apologize in advance for poor grammar or spelling. Hopefully you guys can understand what I want to say/write)
So let's see. I would imagine that the major magic types we should dive into are dragonslayer, Exquip, creation and celestial spirits since they are what are used by fan favorites (or so I at least think)
Over the weekend I have been brainstorming a bit on the dragonslayers and looking on what Traumatizer had for ideas.
I say that we should change what the dragonslayer feat provides at first level. I say something like.. Dragonslayer, +2 bonus to smell and hearing checks, +2 to a chosen stat and 1 dragonslayer feat every third level.
One of the most iconic abilities that the DS possess is the ability to eat their element. This should be fairly easy to make into a game mechanic.
Ex. Bob throws a fireball at Gary (a fire DragonSlayer) and the fireball would deal.. 50 points of damage. Now Gary could eat the fireball and either restore 50 points of hp (1:1) or 10 points of magic (at a rate of 5:1)
Of course I don't know if that is overpowered or not. Maybe have the ability to eat a chosen element scale with level or something?
But that also leads us to the elemental immunity that all dragonslayers have. I am certain that we should not aim to give them immunity but how about a scalin elemental resistance? something like.. 5 per level or something along those lines.
If I remember Traumatizer talked about adding secondary effects to dragon roars (or something like that) and I have been thinking (very briefly) on what that could be. So tell me what you think:
Fire - Ignite things/people
Iron - higher DR
Sky - Ignore DR
Lightning - Higher damage when outdoors/you can see the sky
Poison - you deal 1% of your damage as con damage (min. 1)
Light - more damage when it's light?
Shadow - More damage when it is dark?
Then of course we have the lovely talk about tiers of magic. Natsu could eat normal fireballs but not fire made from the godslayer (well.. he could once his magic was depleted if I recall). So I thought of implementing a magic tier. Like you can eat your tier and below.
So far we know of 4 and I have placed them in this order (though I am uncertain of God and Demon magic. Should they be similar in tier?)
And here they are from highest and going down to lowest
Demon - fire demonslaying magic
God - fire godslaying magic
Dragon - fire dragonslaying magic
Normal - a fireball
