Kaki Todoroki is the oldest son of Shoto Todoroki and Momo Yaoyorozu, with three younger siblings sharing their home. Kaki was always well-acquainted with the other children of his parent’s class; their former class president Iida often worked to keep them in contact with one another. Thus he often played and was considered friends with the kids of his parent’s friends, thanks to being an outgoing and friendly, with an adventurous bend. However, this would change with the day his quirk would manifest.
Initially nothing seemed to be wrong, and he was thrilled that his quirk was like his father’s, with the boy being able to dramatically freeze anything he touched, and could even draw out water droplets from his own body to create small shards of ice.
But within the hour he was in excruciating pain, as it felt as if he was on fire! The only way he had been able to survive was by encasing himself in his own ice, with his father managing to arrive in time to intervene and maintain the ice encasing of his by-then dehydrated son. Rushed to the hospital, it was found that the boy’s quirk had actually mutated his internal organs so that the optimal condition was -98.6 farenheit, with his body interacting with any other temperature as if they were roughly 200 degrees higher to him.
In order to survive the boy was placed in an artificial-cryosis suit that kept his immediate surroundings at a perpetual -130-110~ so that he could survive and interact with the world. This would make Kaki become something of a shut-in, only allowed outside of his suit in a part of the house that was kept cold by a combination of industrial freezing units and his own quirk, and often choosing to not leave this hole, Todoroki was home-educated by his mother.
During these years he would study and read about spiritualism, discipline, science, martial arts, anything that could possibly grant him some means of leaving his world. Over time, he would study spiritual components of kung fu and karate, using its disciplines to extend his quirk’s ability to perform until it was nearly indefinite. This was largely thanks to his learning of the technique to manipulate chi on a rudimentary scale. While his chi isn’t particularly impressive to a known master, it is more than sufficient for him to maintain an aura of frost around himself for roughly 8 hours with only a cup of water being drunk.
With this, Kaki became determined to turn his curse into an asset, wishing to show that any quirk, even the harmful ones, can be heroic. This, coupled with the two legacies of his families with having great heroes that he comes from drives Todorki to be the best. He is rather quiet and socially awkward, as well as prone to self-isolation, resulting in him having a dry sense of humor and being easily manipulated into schemes.
