I've gotten tired of people saying Inko is a bad mother, so I've decided to set the records straight.
I wouldn't say the worst mother. Inko has made a lot of mistakes, but she has overall done all the things for Izuku that are expected of a mother. When something like what happened with Izuku has happened, put yourself in her shoes. Ultimately Quirks are genetic, if your child doesn't get a quirk, who do you blame? I'm sure Inko blamed herself, but when her son got into the course she became very supportive, seeing the error of her own ways, even going as far as to make him his first costume.
Now as, essentially, a single mother, and first time mother, Inko had it all on herself all that stress piled up. People make mistakes all the time too, you think your mother was the perfect mother with her first child? If you say yes, you are a liar. No one is perfect on their first attempt at something, and with Izuku still being so young, she made a mistake, she didn't know how to cope with seeing her son's dreams dashed before his very eyes. All she could in her own mind was apologize. Now I bet you're thinking "Hey a good mother would have supported her son no matter what." Now I'd agree with you there, except in the world of BNHA, those with quirks are vastly in the majority. Which means the idea that a quirkless couldn't be a hero would be the popular opinion of the world. Even All Might, the freakin symbol of justice himself, and number 1 hero, said that Izuku couldn't be a hero without a quirk.
Now one last argument I have to cover "But what about that quirkless vigilante?" Well why do you think he IS a vigilante? Because he's quirkless. He had to become a hero illegally. There was no way he was going to survive in an atmosphere as intense as a hero school. Way too much is put on the hero course students, best a quirkless could hope for is General Studies Course. Even if this quirkless were to save the day, the point stands that he's still just breaking the law with illegal heroics. Those who have committed serious enough crimes cannot become a licensed hero, so at the end of the day, despite a Vigilante's actions they are still just that, a criminal in the eyes of heroes and the law.
So is Inko a bad mother for not supporting her son for an activity that is considered dangerous, even for the likes of All-Might? No, she is not. She has made mistakes in raising her first child, but a bad mother she is not. She is human just like anyone else.
So does anyone have any reason they think I may be wrong? Let' have a civil debate about it ^_^
