It had been less than a week since The Dragon Company had returned from their mission on Nabu Island, and the marines had nearly died at least twice a piece.
The commanding Admiral of that Company, Akainu, had decided that the performance of Toru's marines, as well as the Dragon Zoan himself, was unsatisfactory thanks to the need to use the help of pirates to accomplish what should have been a simple mission. While the admiral had no time himself to train the company, as there were a number of those under the man's command, and Commodore Louis was in The New World, spying on one of the Yonko, the duty of training the up-and-comer fell upon the Vice-Admiral Tsuru.
And now, here they were, on an island simply known as "Vulcan" for its extremely hot days, thanks to its massive natural volcano, and also for being practically submerged except for the upper half of the volcano into the sea, practically quenching the rock itself, like some manner of weapon.
While to any uninitiated person, this may seem like a strange island, this place was considered rather mundane to any of those who had survived The New World at least once. With this, the members of The Dragon Company were forced to train, running all day along the island's scorching surface, and spending the nights at the mouth of the volcano, fighting their superiors desperately for survival.
It was on one such a day that Commander Alicia D. Seras arrived on Vulcan. When the 22 year-old arrived, her squadron in-tow, she saw a group of at least 100 Marines running barefoot across a stone shore that seemed like it was almost melting. Many of these men managed to maintain a pretty even pace, while it seemed that the stronger ones were tied to sleds that carried groups of female officers, mostly Commanders to Commodores, with one particularly large bald man carting along three sleds that held about thirty women between them.
Also noticeable was what seemed to be a rabbit, though she had attributes more consistent with some type of humanoid, who was dragging along a sled with two Commodores riding along, going faster than the muscular man.
Trailing in the rear, however, was a thing brown-haired young man, sweat pouring down his face, as he tried desperately to cart along an elderly woman, wearing the regalia of a vice-admiral.
